Salem, NH - John P. D'Agostino, Jr., 79, passed away on Wednesday, November 13. He was the husband of the late Lucille A. (Tombarello) D'Agostino.
Born and raised in Lawrence, he was the son of the late John, and the late Alexandria "Sandi" (Cicoria) D'Agostino. John was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1957. While at Lawrence High School, he met his future wife Lucille. They were married for 53 years, until her death in 2013.
John enlisted in the Air Force in 1957. While serving in the Air Force, he received training on computer systems, which were in their infancy in the military at the time. Upon earning his Honorable Discharge in 1961, he was hired by Raytheon Corporation. He spent his entire career at Raytheon retiring as Information Processing Systems Manager after 35 years.
John's greatest joy in life came from his family. He and Lucille hosted all the family gatherings, from Thanksgiving and Christmas to Valentine's Day and Halloween. John was happiest when his family was with him. He dearly loved his children, Linda, Johnny and Barbra and his "second son", nephew Ronnie Bellanti along with all of his nieces and nephews. But his utmost happiness came from his grandchildren. They were his world. He felt especially blessed when he became a great-grandfather to Addison Lucille.
Throughout his life, John was an avid fan of all sports. From playing to coaching to spectating, he enjoyed it all. His knowledge of sports related trivia was unsurpassed. Another of John's passions was music. John always had a love for music from singing with the "Tally-Ho's" as a teen to crooning to the rest of us throughout his life. This we will all miss.
John is survived by two daughters and one son, Linda D'Agostino of Salem, NH, John D'Agostino of Newburyport, and Barbra Graham and her husband Chuck of Woburn. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Joshua D'Agostino and his wife, Nicki of Arlington, Lauren Graham, Jessica Graham, and Katie Graham all of Woburn; and one great-granddaughter, Addison D'Agostino. John is also survived by his sister-in-law, Beverly D'Agostino of Seabrook, NH; and several devoted nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, the late Raymond D'Agostino.
Visiting hours will be at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn on Tuesday, November 19 from 3 to 5 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 5 p.m. Burial will be private. Contributions in John's memory may be made to Jimmy Fund, c/o Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 (www.jimmyfund.org/gift).
