Andover, MA - Kurt Robert Peterson, 59, of Andover, formerly of Danvers, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 16, 2019 after a long battle of early-onset Alzheimer's disease. He was the son of Carol and the late Robert C. Peterson.
He was born in Lynn, Mass., in 1960 and educated in the Danvers Public Schools, graduating from Danvers High School in 1978. He then earned a business degree from University of Maine at Orono in 1982.
Kurt was a devoted husband and father. He had a kind, gentle soul, and had an infectious smile and was loved by everyone he met. He loved the outside, skiing, boating, fishing, hockey, and football. His favorite thing to do was to be on the slopes at Attitash with his wife and four kids. You could always find Kurt coaching one of his kids, football, baseball, lacrosse, teams or being a fan on the sidelines watching his daughters cheerleading competition. He passed on his love of sports to each of his children. Although he loved the outside and sports, his first love was for his family.
His professional career spanned more than 30 years in the technology industry including 10 years at Sun Microsystems and six years at Nuance Communications as a Senior Channel Sales Manager.
Kurt and his family have lived in Andover for 30 years. He will be profoundly missed by his loving wife of almost 30 years, Deanna (Hunt) Peterson, three daughters, Deidra, Darla, Darsie Peterson and son, Derek Peterson, all of Andover. His most beloved role in life was being a father and husband.
In addition to his wife and children, Kurt will be missed by his mother, Carol Peterson of Glen, NH and his three sisters, Kristine Schulz of Bradford, Kimberly and Bruce Jewett of Pelham, N.H. and Kyle and Gene Currier of Gorham, Maine and his best friend and his wife, Doug and Jane Peel of Sunapee, N.H.
Kurt also leaves his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Don and Dorothy Hunt of Lynnfield, brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Kristin Hunt of Andover, Denise and Joe Fiorentino of Andover and Doug and Rose Hunt of Lynnfield and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Robert C. Peterson and his brother-in-law, Scott P. Schulz of Bradford.
Visiting hours will be at Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence Street in Andover on Friday, September 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. Services will be held at the Christ Church, 25 Central Street, Andover, on Saturday, September 21 at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Kurt's memory to The Kurt Peterson Memorial Foundation, c/o TD Bank, 61 Main Street, Andover, MA 01810.
