Marguerite Mary Donovan
Born in Manchester, New Hampshire on February 4, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Francis E. and Gertrude McGillan. Marguerite has been a resident of North Andover for 60 years where she and Leo raised 2 children.
Marguerite was educated at Carney Hospital and spent almost 60 years in a career she took immense pride in as a Registered Nurse including more than 50 years at Holy Family Hospital (formerly Bon Secours) in Methuen, MA where she worked in numerous departments including ICU, CCU, Outpatient and Oncology. Compassionate, kind, and caring, she was dedicated to her patients and gave tirelessly of herself to provide them excellent care.
Marguerite was a member of St. Michael's Parish where she taught CCD when her children were younger and also volunteered in various Outreach Programs over many years. A strong and faithful woman all her life, she spent countless hours serving and praying for others and leaves behind a legacy of charity, generosity and steadfastness.
Marguerite was an avid reader, gardener, walker and seamstress and was a lifelong friend and confidante to many. Always thinking about others, she never missed an opportunity to send a card or a note to a friend or loved one to encourage, console or celebrate. Her wisdom was bottomless and will be missed by many.
Marguerite was devoted to her family including her husband, two children and her seven grandchildren who brought her endless joy and love. Countless days were spent with them on the beaches of Ogunquit, Maine and Singer Island, Florida enjoying the waves and walking along the shore. A humble woman, she truly loved being a grandmother, always concerned and curious about each grandchild's activities, accomplishments and travels. Although her grandchildren live in different parts of the country they reached out to her often for a chat, a hearty laugh and her sought after wisdom. Traveling long distances, they visited often to celebrate holidays and birthdays with their adoring Grammy and Papa.
She is survived by her loving husband Leo, and her devoted children, son Daniel and his wife Janet of Groveland, MA and daughter Mary Jean Massimino and her husband R.C. of Lumberville, PA. She also leaves behind seven beautiful and loving grandchildren including Caitlin and husband Clay, Erin and husband Ryan, Leo, Grace, Matthew, Roland and her youngest grandchild Rocco. She is also survived by her devoted sister, Sister Marilyn McGillan APB of the Precious Blood Monastery in Watertown, NY, a sister and brother in law, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Jean Anne Sweeney and her brothers Francis and James.
