Maureen Wilkie Obituary
Dracut - Maureen (Cogger) Wilkie, beloved wife of the late Joseph M. Wilkie Sr. passed away at her Dracut residence surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 27, 2021. She was 78.
Born in Revere on October 4, 1942, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen (Corbett) Cogger.
Maureen grew up in Revere and as a teenager moved with her family to Andover on Foster's Pond. She was a graduate of Andover High School.
When Maureen and Joe were married they moved to Lawrence where she was employed as a secretary in the mayor's office. They later moved to Dracut to raise their family. She became involved in the Dracut Sports Boosters as her children grew. She later worked in the Dracut Public Schools and Housing Authority.
She and Joe celebrated 44 years of marriage at the time of his death in 2014, prior to that they were inseparable. Be it a Sunday ride to the beach to eat or spending countless hours doing ceramics in the basement listening to a Red Sox game. Together they enjoyed visiting casinos and traveling to Las Vegas to celebrate their anniversary and her birthday. She cherished her daily phone calls with her sister Nancy and brother Johnnie. She also enjoyed her time playing bingo or playing cards with the girls.
Maureen was the ultimate Nana who looked forward to watching her grandchildren play field hockey, lacrosse, softball and hockey. She cherished all of the time spent with them. Maureen enjoyed family cookouts and lobster bakes.
Her family would like to thank all of the wonderful people at Merrimack Valley Hospice for the care and support that they provided to Maureen and the family during the past months, especially Jamie, Rebecca, and Shayna.
Surviving Maureen are her five children and their spouses, Colleen of Peabody, Michael and Bonnie Wilkie of Gardner, Christine and Timothy Germain, Joseph Jr. and Erin, and John Wilkie, all of Dracut; six grandchildren, Kadyn and Kylie Germain, Conner, Chase, Joey and Charlie Wilkie; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Barbara Cogger of North Andover; her grand-dogs Lulu and Chief; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Nancy Pagliaro of Revere who passed away last week.
Relatives and friends are invited to Maureen's Life Celebration at the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell, from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m., on Thursday.
