Maurice A. Battiato Obituary
Derry - Maurice A. "Moe" Battiato, age 84, of Derry, New Hampshire, formerly of Lawrence, Massachusetts, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, surrounded by his devoted family.
Born in 1942, Moe was the beloved son of Salvatore L. and Charlotte M. (Scandurra) Battiato, both of whom predeceased him. He leaves behind his brother Frederick Battiato, sister Joy Speigel, and many nieces and nephews. He was the loving husband of the late Angela D. Battiato, with whom he shared more than 20 years of marriage and 3 beautiful children. He leaves behind his daughters, Gina Liato and Sarah (James) Maravelias, and will be reunited in heaven with his beloved son, David Battiato. He was the proud grandfather of Angela, Dominic, Jason, Amanda, and Camron, and great-grandfather of Brooklyn.
Born deaf, Maurice learned to speak and read lips at a young age, but his disability never held him back. A man of strength, humor, devotion, and unmistakable pride, Moe lived a life defined by hard work, deep faith, and the love he carried for his family and Italian heritage.
Moe was proud of his career as an electrician for the IBEW Union, local 103. He loved all things cars, especially his green Dune Buggy which he built himself, and let you know every chance he got. He also loved to cook and enjoyed family gatherings, filling his home with warmth and laughter. Christmas was his favorite holiday, a time when family came together and traditions were celebrated with joy.
A devout Catholic from a young age, his faith remained the foundation of his life. He attended daily Mass faithfully for many years and proudly served as an usher at his parish, always welcoming others with warmth and kindness.
Nothing made Moe happier than spending time with his children, and grandchildren. He treasured watching them grow, celebrating their accomplishments with others, and sharing stories and experiences from his own life and career. The memories he created with them will be cherished forever.
Moe's legacy lives on in the traditions he passed down, the meals he cooked, the stories he told, and in the hearts of the family who loved him deeply. Gone but never forgotten, "papa" will be deeply and forever missed.
