Michael A. Kinsella Obituary
Methuen - Michael A. Kinsella, age 91, of Methuen, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026, with his loving family by his side. Born in 1934 in Medford, he was the son of the late Robert and Clare (Callahan) Kinsella.
Affectionately known as "Mike," he was the devoted husband of the late Joanne M. (Scanlan) Kinsella, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage—a partnership marked by deep affection, steady support, and a lifetime of shared memories.
Mike was the wonderful father of Laureen McCluskey and her husband James, and Michael A. Kinsella Jr. and his wife Jacqueline Agnew. He was the cherished grandfather of Seamus K., Morgan N., and Kendal E. McCluskey, and Maxwell B. Kinsella. He was the dear brother of Sheila Darrigo, Maureen McCoy, and Clare Kennedy, and he will be missed by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents and his wife, Mike was predeceased by his siblings Roberta Ungaretti and Andrea Tivnan.
A man of many talents, Mike was known for his remarkable handiness and his eagerness to help others. Whether fixing something around the house, teaching a neighbor how to repair a tool, or lending a hand without being asked, he embodied generosity in action. His warmth and willingness to share his skills made him a beloved presence in his community.
Mike loved the outdoors and embraced every season. He was an avid golfer, a passionate skier, and someone who found joy in the sunshine—especially during his trips to Florida, where the warm weather suited him perfectly. He was also a loyal fan of the Red Sox and the Patriots, rarely missing a game and always cheering with heart.
In his younger years, Mike served proudly in the United States Air Force, where he played semi‑pro soccer and even appeared in a promotional water‑skiing film—an experience he fondly recalled throughout his life.
Later in life, Mike's faith deepened and became an important part of his daily rhythm. He carried that faith with humility and gratitude, finding comfort and purpose in it.
Above all, Mike was family‑oriented. He delighted in supporting his grandchildren, attending their activities, celebrating their accomplishments, and being a steady, loving presence in their lives. His family was his greatest joy, and his legacy lives on in the values he instilled—kindness, loyalty, humor, and the importance of showing up for the people you love.
Mike's life was rich with connection, generosity, and quiet strength. He will be remembered with deep affection and enduring gratitude by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
