Miriam Olivares Obituary
Windham - Miriam passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Wingate Residences in Haverhill, MA.
Miriam was born in Havana, Cuba, on January 25, 1936, to her beloved parents, Jose and Dora De la Torre. She was the youngest of four children and is predeceased by her three older brothers. Miriam immigrated to the United States in 1968 and proudly became an American citizen in 1970.
Miriam worked for General Electric for 30 years before dedicating herself to caring for her granddaughters. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and found joy in reading, knitting, crocheting, cooking, and gardening. She especially loved spending time outdoors and always made sure her bird feeders were full so she could enjoy the company of the many birds that visited her porch. Miriam also enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places and cultures.
Above all else, Miriam treasured her family. Her greatest joy came from the close connection she shared with her loved ones, especially after being blessed with five great-grandchildren. Her family will remember her for her optimism, resilience, and fierce spirit. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered as a devoted mother, proud "abuela," and cherished "bisabuela."
She is survived by her loving daughter, Glenda Lonardo, and her husband, Charles, of Salem, NH; her granddaughters, Francesca Lonardo of Salem, NH, and Adriana Ortiz and her husband, Greg, of Atkinson, NH; and her great-grandchildren, Maximus, Alexander, Meadow, Avery, and Lucas. Miriam wished to be cremated and remain with her family. In accordance to her wishes, no public services will be held.
