Plaistow - Patrick R. Curran, M.D., 67, of Plaistow, NH, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the devoted husband of Maureen M. (Donaghue) Curran.
Born in Salem on April 6, 1959, he was the son of the late Dr. Richard and Suzanne (Collins) Curran. Pat was raised and educated in Danvers and was a proud member of the St. John's Preparatory School Class of 1977. He continued his education at Tufts University, where he earned both his bachelor's degree and his medical degree while also playing rugby. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Christ Hospital in Chicago.
Dr. Curran dedicated his professional life to caring for others through a long and distinguished career at Lawrence General Hospital. As an emergency room physician, he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues, patients, and first responders alike. He served as Chief of Emergency Medicine and Region IV EMS Medical Director, helping to shape emergency medical care throughout Northeastern Massachusetts.
A longtime resident of Danvers before making his home in Plaistow, Pat embraced life with enthusiasm. He was an avid golfer, a passionate fan of New England sports teams, and enjoyed traveling and fishing trips with family and friends. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his family. He was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend whose kindness, wisdom, and quiet sense of humor will be deeply missed.
In addition to his beloved wife, Maureen, he is survived by his three children, Patrick Curran and his wife, Jamie, of Cumming, Georgia, John Curran and his wife, Lesley, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Catherine Flynn and her husband, Matthew, of Cambridge; his three stepchildren, Daniel Hamel and his partner, Lev, of South Hadley, Brigitte Hamel and her fiancé, Carlos, of Haverhill, and Renee Hamel of Presque Isle, Maine; his cherished grandchildren, Layla, Jade, John Patrick, Caleb James, Brooklyn, and Liam; his four sisters, Sheila Harrington and her husband, Steve, of Groton, Joan Lyford and her husband, Jon, of Pennsylvania, Nancy Prevost and her husband, Joseph, of Pepperell, and Laura Duffy and her husband, Kevin, of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.
