Paul A. Makowski Obituary

Rockport - Paul A. Makowski, 75, of Rockport, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation, following a courageous battle with cancer. Paul was the husband of Virginia "Ginny" (Burliuk) Makowski, with whom he shared many years of marriage.

Born on the 4th of July 1943, in Albany, New York, son of the late Andrew and Stephanie (Small) Makowski. He was a graduate of Vincentian Institute High School in Albany. He attained his bachelor's degree at Niagara University, and later his master's degree at the State University of New York at Albany.

Paul worked for many years as an accountant and comptroller. He enjoyed working in the business and financial field. He held accounting/comptroller positions at Westchester Rockland Newspapers and Gannett. Later he helped restructure small to midsize companies. He took a company public on the NYSE, (an IPO). Before retiring he worked at the Boston Public Library as an accountant.

Paul's faith was a very important part of his life and he generously supported his church and his community.

Paul was an enthusiastic supporter of Rockport Millbrook Meadow. As recently as 2017 Paul was one of the advisors to the committee.

He was an avid golfer since the age of 12 and developed a lifelong passion for the game. He enjoyed sports, traveling, good cuisine, and spending time with his family and friends.

Paul was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to his two grandsons, Sawyer and Quinten Savlen.

Our family would like to express our thanks to everyone at Addison Gilbert Hospital and Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care they provide.

Paul is survived by his wife Ginny; a daughter, Vanessa Savlen and her husband Louis of Rockport; his sister, Carol Makowski of Albany, New York; two grandchildren, Sawyer and Quinten Savlen of Rockport; and many nieces and nephews.
