Pauline Berube Obituary

Lawrence - Pauline (Houde) Berube, 88, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026 in Lawrence, MA, with her loving family by her side.

Born on August 30, 1937, in Methuen, Massachusetts, Pauline was the daughter of the late Fortunat Houde and Florida (Plouffe) Houde. She grew up in Lawrence, Massachusetts, one of five children in her family, and was educated in the Lawrence school system.

Pauline met the love of her life, Joseph A. Berube, through mutual friends. The couple was married on July 30, 1961, at St. Anne's Church in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and together shared over 57 years of marriage until Joseph's passing in 2018.

A talented hairdresser, Pauline attended hairdressing school and devoted many years to her profession. Above all else, she cherished her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She and Joseph raised their family in Salem, New Hampshire, where they lived for many years before relocating to Fremont, where they resided for more than two decades.

Pauline enjoyed camping during her younger years and loved spending time with family. She was known for her wonderful cooking and took great joy in gathering loved ones around the table. Nothing brought her greater happiness than being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the center of her world.

She also enjoyed 10-pin bowling and was proud of achieving a perfect 300 game at Striker's East in Raymond, NH.

Pauline is survived by her daughter, Dawn Gilbert and her wife, Reni; her son, Brian Berube and his wife, Gayle; her brother, Chanel Houde; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Joseph A. Berube, Pauline was predeceased by her parents as well as her three brothers: Maurice, Roland, and Norman Houde.
