Methuen - Rev. Vincent J. Gianni, 82, of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Lawrence, MA, on July 6, 1943, he was the son of the late Vincent J. and Rose (Rapisardi) Gianni. Father Gianni was raised in Lawrence and was a member of Holy Rosary Parish, where he attended school and faithfully served as an altar boy.

He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1961, and continued his path toward the priesthood at St. John's Seminary. He was ordained to the priesthood at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston in May of 1970.

Father Gianni began his ministry at St. Lucy Parish in Methuen and went on to serve the faithful at St. Patrick Parish in Lawrence and Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Lynnfield. He later served as pastor of Assumption Church in Chelsea and St. Florence Parish in Wakefield, where he was deeply devoted to his parishioners and community. He retired in 2019 after nearly five decades of faithful service. Even in retirement, Father Gianni continued to share his vocation by assisting with Masses at St. Monica and St. Lucy Parishes in Methuen.

A cherished and familiar presence throughout the Merrimack Valley, Father Gianni will be remembered for his unwavering faith, kindness, and dedication to serving others.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Geraldine "Geri" Gianni of Methuen; his niece, Elaine Marie Gianni of Methuen; his great-niece, Destinee Wise and her husband, Donald, of Sandown, NH; his great-niece, Alexandra Eldridge of Methuen; his great-nephew, Austin Aziz of Claremont, NH; his great-great-nieces, Kasidee Castro, Marissa Wise, and Skyla Wise, all of Sandown, NH; and his great-great-nephew, Ronin Wise of Sandown, NH.

He was predeceased by his parents, Vincent J. and Rose (Rapisardi) Gianni; his brother, Emanuel "Manny" Gianni; and his niece, Christine Gianni Eldridge.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Calling Hours on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Lucy Parish, 254 Merrimack Street, Methuen, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lucy Parish. Burial will follow at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Methuen.
