Plaistow, NH - Reverend Richard A. Norwood, 73, passed away peacefully from a brief illness surrounded by the love of his family at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill. He was the husband of Suzanne J. (Howe) Norwood.
Born in Boston on November 7, 1944, he was the son of the late Chester H. and Shirley R. (Janik) Norwood.
Upon graduating from Braintree High School, Richard continued higher education and earned his BA from Wheaton College, Class of 1966, and a Masters of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 1977.
Richard was the founder of the Christian Youth Center in Dorchester, MA, pastor/missionary since 1977, and an international church planter with E3 Partners Ministry since the year 2000.
Besides his wife of 44 years, Rev. Norwood is survived by his daughters, Marguerite and Juliana Norwood; grandchildren, Hannah, Tanusha, Reeya and Suhas. Rev. Norwood has two surviving sisters, Lynn in Charlotte, NC, and Meredith Norwood of Asheville, N.C.. Rev. Norwood was the father of the late Sonja M. Norwood.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Free Christian Church, 31 Elm St., Andover, MA 01810 on Sunday, June 3rd at 3 p.m. Interment at Linwood Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Richard’s memory to the Norwood Memorial Fund at Faith Chapel New England, c/o Roger Philbrick, 247 Broadway Rd. #36, Dracut, MA 01826.
