Dick spent weekends and extended retreats in Rangeley, Maine enjoying camping, fishing, hiking, canoeing, hunting, and skiing. He was constantly developing property improvement projects or had one under way. He delighted in enlisting new recruits to join the work party, or to join an expedition on one of the big lakes, quiet streams or hiking a mountain trail. His other interests included reading, gardening, birding, and dogs. He played ice hockey, tennis, paddle tennis, squash, and bridge.
He survived his beloved wife Barbara of 61 years, and is survived by his five children: Carolyn Lewis and her husband Van of Lynchburg, VA; Meredith Moody of Needham; Heather Holman and her partner, William Levy of Andover, Rick Moody and his wife Randi Lite of Needham; Janice Holden and her husband Seth of Andover, and 12 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

I loved to visit Dick and Barbara. Dick lived with a heart for others and I loved his social action agenda around giving children some of what he valued in raising his own kids and the life he loved in Andover.
He was positive, shared stories, challenged gently and worked on those issues that impacted the betterment of others with a genuine heart for others. And what a couple! It has been a long time since I have sat in the living room together but these were favorite visits of my years in Andover.
My heart is with all of you in the family.

An honorable, good and true gentleman!
