Robert A. Walter, Sr. Obituary

Robert A. Walter, Sr. 83, formerly of Boxford, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017 at his home in E. Wakefield, N.H. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth M. (McDermott) Walter. Robert was born October 27, 1933 in Natick, Mass. the son of the late Henry and Norine (Callahan) Walter. He was raised in Ashland, and was a graduate of Our Lady High School in Newton. Robert was employed as a purchasing manager with Rich’s Department Store in Salem, for several years. Robert honorably served in the United States Navy and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and The American Legion - Post 379. Robert loved boating, gardening and especially enjoyed socializing with friends.

Robert is survived by six children, Mary Muccio and husband Daniel of York, Maine, Robert A. Walter, Jr. and companion, Margaret Rose (Peggy) of Gloucester, Colleen Parisi and husband, Philip of Gloucester, Cheryl Walter and companion William Vieira of Pelham, N.H., Mark Walter of Portland, Maine, and Brian Walter of Hampton, N.H. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one sister; Patricia Taylor of Sunset Beach, NC, several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Robert’s life will take place Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 11 a.m. from The Grondin-Carnevale Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830. Interment is private. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.GrondinCarnevale.com.
