Ronald Sarofian Obituary
Haverhill - Ronald Sarofian, 89, of Haverhill, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026. He was born in 1936 to Charles (Garabed) Sarofian, an Armenian genocide survivor, and Araxie (Chooljian) Sarofian, affectionately known as Roxie.
Ron was a devoted son, sibling, husband, father, and grandfather and a cherished member of the Haverhill civic and athletic communities throughout his life. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 65 years, Yvonne (DeVoe) Sarofian; his daughters and their spouses, Stephanie Sarofian and Tracy Bickel of Newburyport, and Amy Sarofian-Butin and Dan Sarofian-Butin of North Andover; and his four grandchildren, Olivia and Chloe Moeller, and Luc and Miles Sarofian Bickel. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
Ron was predeceased by his twin brother Richard; his sister Jean; his brothers, Charles, Ira, and Daniel; and his nephews Charlie, Billy, and Lyle.
A true sportsman at heart, Ron had a lifelong passion for athletics. He loved golf and was an honorary Lifetime Member of the Haverhill Country Club. An avid runner, certified basketball referee, and Pony League coach, he dedicated countless hours to local sports. As a boy, he dreamed of becoming a Boston Brave, and at age 76, he was featured in the Eagle Tribune as a softball phenomenon.
Many will remember Ron as a stylish and personable presence on Merrimack Street, where he outfitted men at Barrett's Men's Clothing. He later spent the majority of his professional career as an analyst at Honeywell Bull.
Ron attended Boston University and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Suffolk University. Deeply committed to public service, he served as President of the Lions Club, a Haverhill Zoning Commissioner, and a Voting Manager during elections. He was also a proud veteran of the Army Reserves.
Above all, Ron was a gentleman in every sense—kind and dignified. His legacy of service and devotion to family will be long remembered.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11 from 11:00-12:00 at Holy Archangels Armenian Church, 1280 Boston Rd. Haverhill, MA. A service will follow the visitation at the Church. Arrangements are by H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Bradford - Haverhill.
