South Berwick, ME - Reverend W. Roy Reynolds passed away peacefully in his sleep and was welcomed into the arms of his Savior Jesus early Wednesday morning, May 23, 2018. He was 70.

Roy pastored the South Berwick Free Baptist Church for 40 years and helped found Seacoast Christian School, where he served as teacher and administrator for 30 years.

Roy grew up in Andover. After graduating from UNH, he taught physics and math at Cardinal Cushing Academy. He accepted Christ as his Savior in 1971, an event that changed his life. He was called to teach the Word of God, sharing God’s love whether from the pulpit, in the classroom, or face to face. He was a man of integrity and humility, always serving with a shepherd’s heart.

In 1971 he also met his future wife, Brenda Youney. They married in 1972 and moved to Vermont so he could attend the Bible Institute of New England. He ministered at a local church for three years.

Roy then attended Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary and graduated in 1979. He accepted a call to pastor the South Berwick Free Baptist Church, where he served faithfully until Jesus called him home.

Roy was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Ruth Reynolds. He leaves behind Brenda, his wife of 46 years; his daughter, Emily, her husband, Jason Hendrickson, and their son, Jesse; his daughter, Rachel, her husband, Peter Scruton and their daughters, Abigail and Anna; and his son, Seth Reynolds. He also leaves behind a sister, Beverly Walshe, and several nieces and nephews.

An open house with the family (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.) and a celebration of life (2 p.m.) will be held at South Berwick Free Baptist Church on June 2. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to South Berwick Free Baptist Church.
