Walter W. Wilson Obituary

HAVERHILL — Walter W. Wilson Jr., 89, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 2, 2008 at his residence in Bradford.


Mr. Wilson was born on Dec. 6, 1918 in Des Moines, Iowa, son of the late Walter W. Sr. and Mary Lena (Entler) Wilson. He was raised and educated in Des Moines schools. Following graduation, he was proud to attend and complete his studies at his beloved Iowa State University.


After graduation from college, Mr. Wilson began to work in New Jersey for Bell Laboratories, then moving to the Bradford section of Haverhill continuing to work for Bell Laboratories located on Locust Street, Haverhill. He was involved in the groundbreaking ceremonies of the new North Andover facilities and continued to work as an electrical engineer supervisor until his retirement in 1980.


Mr. Wilson was in a member the local AARL, Organ Club, Ham Radio Club and several other local organizations. He was very generous and a loyal contributor to several local medical and animal organizations as well as special scholarships to his alumnus, Iowa State University.


He enjoyed over 50 years of living in the close neighborhood of Muriel Terrace in Bradford. He enjoyed activities around his home, growing tomatoes, yard work and took great pleasure maintaining his vehicle. He truly was a fixture of the neighborhood.


He leaves his close neighborhood family of many friends, as well as his relatives the Hiatt families of Iowa; also his loving caregivers, Paul G. Hinds and his wife Celeste M. of Groveland, and Lisa Merrit of Haverhill.


ARRANGEMENTS: Contributions may be made in Mr. Wilson's memory to a charity of the donors choice. His funeral service will be held TODAY, Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008 in the C. Frank Linnehan and Son Bradford Funeral Home, 52 Salem St., Bradford at 7 p.m. with Rev. Marcus T. Crapsey, Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, Haverhill officiating.
