Wayne W. Arleque Obituary

Andover - Wayne W. Arleque, of Andover, MA, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 9, 1945, in Lawrence, MA, he was the son of Anginette Marcel Durette and Warren Smith Arleque. He was a longtime resident of Methuen and Andover, where he lived a life defined by service, integrity, leadership, and devotion to his family.

Wayne proudly enlisted in the United States Army in October 1964. After completing Basic Combat Training at Fort Dix, NJ, and Military Police training at Fort Gordon, Georgia, he was assigned to Inchon, South Korea. There, he served as a Military Policeman, cross-trained as a missileman providing security for missile defense sites near the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and later became a Military Police K-9 handler supervisor. His outstanding leadership earned him a promotion to Sergeant within two years. Following an assignment at a missile defense site in Pennsylvania, he was honorably discharged in October 1967. Wayne remained deeply proud of his military service throughout his life.

After returning home, Wayne married the love of his life, Dr. Lillian R. Arleque. Together they shared more than 50 years of marriage built on love, respect, and unwavering support.

Wayne spent many years in the antique business and earned an Associate degree from Northern Essex Community College. He was an accomplished competitive marksman, winning numerous shooting championships throughout New England. A dedicated leader in the Boy Scouts of America, he earned the prestigious Wood Badge and served as a Regional Commissioner, mentoring countless Scouts and adult volunteers. He was also a proud Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2104 in North Andover.

Wayne will be remembered for his quiet strength, kindness, loyalty, and unwavering dedication to others. Above all, he cherished his family. He was preceded by his beloved wife, Dr. Lillian R. Arleque, and his brother, Allen Arleque. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Arleque and wife Trish; his daughter, Kathleen Botkin and husband Christopher; and his cherished grandchildren, Iris, Aiden, Elijah, and Ione.

Family and friends are invited on Friday, July 17th at 11 a.m. for an hour of visitation, followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. at Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence St. in Andover, MA.
